The first picture is Edith and Randall on the front porch of the George Block Home 1919 or 1920. The following is a little earlier of George and Faye and Edith.

John Block House
Ruth Ann - This is the picture you sent me. In the next picture, John block is standing in front of the same house (compare the front window and notice the beam at the top of the picture above John. John is wearing the same jacket in the third picture, but don't know if it is the same date - probably, but he has lost his hat. Is the woman next to him Margaret or a sister. Her face just doesn't resemble Margaret when I blow it up on the computer. Perhaps they lived in this house before Margaret died and after the old, old house in the previous post.
George Block's House
Ruth this is for you. The first picture was taken around 1933. The two little girls are Doris & Wanda. George and Faye Block are standing in the background. Grandma tells me that this is the house she was born in (1917). Later George Block built the house in the next picture on the same property as the first house and, as you can see, he was keeping chickens around (maybe in?) the old house. The third picture is of George, Faye and Edith Block, probaby taken in 1918 on the porch of the new house. I will show the picture that you sent me to Grandma this week - maybe she can shed some light on it. Grandma has told me more than once tha t after her Grandma block (Margaret) died in 1924, John moved in with them until his death. She remembers John and his sisters (who would they be?) sitting on the front lawn speaking in German.

Dad
This is one of my favorite picures of my Dad. I guess it must have been taken about 1975 or 76, but am not sure where. Maybe he will remember and add a post...
Dad got to move back to the area of his birth about eight or nine years ago - Good for him, I thought. He spends his free time working on his house and new building, fishing, taking his mother to eat, fishing, mowing, fishing, helping me with differnet projects and fishing. I enjoy our time together.

Bertha Shelton Photo Restoration
This is a picture that was torn many years ago. It is Bertha (Farleigh) Shelton, probably taken around 1900 - 1905. Picture #1 shows the photo's original condition. Picture #2 are the pieces rejoined. #3 is a cropped portion that would recieve restoration through the computer. #4 is the final result. Still not quite happy with it, but I will probably work a bit on that. Enjoy!

George & Faye Block Home
This is the George and Faye Block home (1915 - c.1962). the picture was taken about 1918 - 1934. Maybe Mom can tell some stories about it - I don't know any. Grandma Block had moved to Cisne by the time I was around. When Granddad and Grandma sold their farm, Granddad gave me the name off of George Block's mailbox. it had been in his shed for years, I guess. Kind of an odd keepsake, but I have it in the house at Cisne and it means a lot to me.

Augustus Best Family
I just received this picture through Email today from a very nice lady in Arkansas. She is the granddaughter of Elizabeth Dora Best (Keyser). Elizabeth was the sister of Mattie Best Rogers. It is the Augustus and Eliza (Holmes) family.
I cropped Grandma Rogers image from the picture and enlarged it a bit. She really resembles Dad as a kid. Missing from the picture are Elizabeth Dora (1866 - 1891) and Uncle Bert Best (1883-1965 - not yet born. Arra (1879 - 1973), the youngest shown looks to be at least two years old so the licture is probably 1882, or early 1883, before Bert was born.

Effingham - January 1980
Effingham, IL - 26 years ago this month. Granddad and Grandma took Shari and I too Effingham one Sunday after church. We ate at was it a Best Western??? All I remember is lot of popcorn shrimp. then after dinner we went to some indoor amusement park near the mall. I thought I was a little old for the place, but never said anything. We were leaving for Colorado in a month or so and I didn't think we'd ever see them again. Shari looks a little depressed too.
